‘just stunning music’ Bob Harris, BBC Radio 2

‘beautifully sung and played… a fine, fine album’ R2 Magazine

On Saturday Novmber 13th 2021, we commenced the first of our workshops and courses designed to enhance young musicians’ knowledge and provide practical skills in specific areas of music.

The LCMF Songwriting Workshops with Yvonne Lyon are a combination of group workshops and one-to-one sessions led by one of Scotland’s leading young song writers, Yvonne Lyon.

The online sessions will be delivered in three stages:

Stage 1 An initial online group workshop will be held on Sat. 13th November packed full of practical ideas to free up our song writing and explore fresh approaches. There will be plenty of helpful stimulus material to inspire and encourage song sparks and song seeds.

The timetable for this opening group workshop will be as follows:

            11 - 12.30 pm  Working on Lyrics

            12.30 - 1 pm Lunch Break

            1 -2 pm Musical Ideas

            2 - 2.15 pm Coffee Break

            2.15 - 3.15 pm  Final Session

Stage 2  Over the following three weeks, a max. of 10 participants will each receive a 30-60 minute one-to-one session with Yvonne to develop song sparks/seeds created in the initial workshop or a song idea of the participants choice

Stage 3  A summing up session on Sat. 4th December will be a 'song share' concert - a safe, encouraging space to listen to each other's developed songs 'in the round', to offer positive critique and share our experiences of the process.

Following the Songwriting Workshops, participants will receive

a free seat for our Soundtrap licence for 12 months. We will also host a free webinar on how to use Soundtrap (online recording studio).
