Twisted Blues, blues/rock band from Inverness featuring former Uriah Heep drummer Iain Clark, are digitally releasing a charity single, “It Wasn’t You” on Monday 9th November 2020. The single will be available on all digital platforms along with a music video on YouTube.
The release is in aid of the Liam Colgan Music Fund, set up in memory of the late singer/songwriter Liam Colgan who sadly lost his life whilst in Hamburg in 2018. Their mission is to support young musicians and provide access to learning, opportunities to progress, and legacy of achievement through music.
Twisted Blues consists of vocalist and bassist Bobby McDonald, drummer Iain Clark and guitarist Roger Niven, all highly experienced and accomplished musicians who combined to create one of the most dynamic and exciting live bands in the North of Scotland.
“It Wasn’t You” is best described as a blues rock inspired song with an Americana twist. The song features meaningful lyrics and a gentle melody that takes you through an emotional journey from beginning to end. The music video features one of Liam’s childhood friends, Sean Fleming, and illustrates the pain Liam’s loved ones experienced with his passing.
To mark the 25th anniversary of their long association together the band travelled to New Orleans where they recorded an album of Bobby McDonald’s original songs at the Music Shed Studios. When Liam Colgan’s father stated he wanted to set up a fund to support young musicians in memory of his son, the band members immediately decided to donate the entire proceeds from the single and album in order to raise money for the fund. Amongst several standout tracks “It Wasn’t You” was selected to promote the fund. The album, Euterpe Street (the location of the studio in New Orleans) will be released on the 7th December.
Roger Niven, Twisted Blues, said: “It Wasn’t You has such a gentle, and easy going feel, but every time I listen to it I’m drawn into the emotion in the lyric and taken on the sad journey with all its imagery. It is such a powerful song and I think the accompanying video, which releases on the 9th November truly reflects that.”
